M & A Club in Gatineau : second meeting

It is Tuesday, February 18th, 2014 that was held at the CLD of Gatineau, the second meeting of the M&A Club of Gatineau.  This meeting was a success.  About 20 lawyers, accountants, bankers and other senior professionals of the region attended the meeting and have discussed about several business opportunities for their clients.

The M&A Club’s mission is to represent Canada’s merger and acquisition professionals and intermediaries for middle-market transactions and financing. The M&A Club has an expanding Canadian presence, holds regular monthly meetings in 8 clubs throughout Quebec, and also hosts the annual full-day M&A Forum. The M&A Club provides networking opportunities, exclusive member benefits and facilitates the development of mid-cap deals.

New M&A Club in Gatineau

SME Business Appraisers participated at the 2013 Business Challenge

This year, SME Business Appraisers have participated at the 2013 Business Challenge, a fundraising activity for the Foundation of the Cégep de l’Outaouais.  It is important for us to help the student community finance some of their projects and to increase the number of grants available to students.  The Business Challenge is also an excellent network opportunity.  The activity was held at the Sporthèque de Hull on Thursday October 24th ,2013.

It is important for us, to participate in events in our community that gives to the youth  and help them in their academic development.

JP Aubé, member of the jury of the Excelor awards 2013 in Gatineau

JP is very active in the region of Gatineau/Ottawa and was a member of the jury for the Excelor awards 2013.  The Excelor awards are given to businesses that have distinguished themselves in the management of their businesses.

The finalist were announced on Wednesday October 9th, 2013 and the winners were presented to the business community on Saturday November 23rd ,2013  at the Casino of the Lac Lemay.  SME Business Appraisers were present at that event where over 700 business men and women of the region were present.

SME Business Appraisers supports youth and knowledge!

For a consecutive year, Jean-Philippe Aubé, CA, CPA, partner, has participated in the event Place à la jeunesse in 2013 as the author of an accounting case.  It was the tenth edition of this competition. 

The Place à la jeunesse academic competition is an initiative from the University of Ottawa’s Jeux du Commerce (JDC) delegation. The competition was created in 2004 and always takes place in the national capital region. The objective of Place à la jeunesse is to give high school students a taste of the business world as well as to promote post-secondary education in French. 

All students who take part in Place à la jeunesse take advantage of an opportunity like no other. Throughout the competition, the students are able to apply the material they learn in classroom as well as refine their problem solving skills. This competition is also a great opportunity for them to perfect their communication and presentation skills. The students also have the chance to interact with university students and to network with professors and professionals from the Ottawa region.

This year, Jean-Philippe was a member of jury and SME Business Appraisers was a sponsor. We are proud to support the Ottawa’s Francophone community as well as the students and post-secondary institutions.

Recently, Jean-Philippe Aubé, CA, CPA, partner, has participated in the event Place à la jeunesse in 2012 as the author of a case in the scenario of a competitive business.

The Place à la jeunesse academic competition is an initiative from the University of Ottawa’s Jeux du Commerce (JDC) delegation. The competition was created in 2004 and always takes place in the national capital region. The objective of Place à la jeunesse is to give high school students a taste of the business world as well as to promote post-secondary education in French.

Jean-Philippe is presently completing his training to become a chartered business valuator (CBV).

Business valuation

Mr. Jean-Claude Desnoyers had been doing business valuation for 12 years –9 of which as senior director of business valuation services with Welch LLP. He launched his own business valuation firm, SME Business Appraisers, in December 2011, to expand his market and better serve a growing number of customers.
